HOW TO LIST YOUR DOG WITH CALGARY PUREBRED LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE.

FOR INFORMATION ON COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT BREED RESCUES, PLEASE CHECK OUT http://www.darkrose-bds.com/kennel/resc/rescmisc.htm

CALGARY PUREBRED LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE is a non-profit adoption referral organization dedicated to placing Labrador Retrievers into new, carefully screened homes.

Owners wishing to place their dog through CPLRR should first call Cindy Chauncey at 934-4965, complete a listing form and return to CPLRR's Mailing Address with a $10.00 non-refundable listing fee for each dog listed. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR DOG WAS PURCHASED FROM A BREEDER, THEY MUST BE CONTACTED FIRST. MOST BREEDERS MAY HAVE A RIGHT OF FIRST REFUSAL ON YOUR DOG AND/OR MAY BE ABLE TO HELP WITH REHOMING TOO.

People who apply to adopt a dog through CPLRR must fill out an extensive Adoption Application form, explaining why they want a Labrador Retriever, how they plan to care for the dog and what kind of home they will provide. When an application is received, it is either approved or declined. Applicants for dogs may be declined if they cannot provide a suitable home for the dog they are applying for. Owners listing their dogs are under no obligation to accept any applicant referred by CPLRR. If you feel an applicant is not right for your dog, simply notify CPLRR. We will continue to refer applicants that might be suitable until the right match is found.

Although we carefully screen adopters, we cannot guarantee that every referral will be perfect. For this reason, we suggest you also screen the applicant before turning over your dog. People who give away dogs are urged to be selective about prospective owners.

CPLRR will do our best to place your dog into a new home. However, CPLRR can in no way guarantee a successful placement. Your dog's age, temperament or medical condition might make placement difficult, or we may not have any suitable applications on file. CPLRR is not the same kind of instant "solution" as dropping your dog off at the shelter. Owners should expect to spend some time working with CPLRR to find the best, loving and permanent home for your dog.

We warn owners that dogs taken to animal shelters are held for a limited time. Often 24-72 hours. The shelters do not have the space to keep the large number of dogs surrendered by their owners and turned in as strays. The fact that your dog is a healthy purebred will not intercede in its fate at the shelters. CPLRR attempts to offer an alternative to the hopeless situation dogs face in animal shelters.

CPLRR charges a non-refundable $10.00 listing fee to help cover our operating costs. However, if we are successful in helping you place your dog, we would very much appreciate a further donation. CPLRR is non-profit and depends on such donations to continue operating. We are an all volunteer organization and receive no compensation for the time spent helping to place your dog.
